Roberto Orallo

Orallo is one of the most renowned artistic figures in Cantabria and one of the most significant exponents of the generation of the seventies, along with painters such as Pilar Cossío or José Gallego. In addition to being a painter, Orallo is a great trainer, having been Associate Professor of Drawing at the Santa Clara Institute in Santander, where he created in 1980, a Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics Workshop. Today he directs the first public school of plastic arts and design in Cantabria located in Reocín, a town in Torrelavega. There are countless individual and collective exhibitions, having exhibited in various Spanish and international galleries: in France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Chicago and Mexico.

The human being is its main inspiration.Roberto Orallo's career has always reflected this humanist conception, whether in its most surrealist aspect, Spanish pop from the 60s/70s, cubist or expressionist. His continuous research into pictorial currents has led him to create a recognizable character of his own in all his works.

A painter of series, Orallo's career, which began in 1972, is therefore integrated as a unique style within figurative neo-expressionism. His brushstrokes have toured national and international galleries, garnering important criticism wherever they have passed.
