Benedicte Allee

Mountains, ice, air and snow, trees, rocks and oceans,

space and freedom, the changing dance of the seasons

are at the heart of my art.

I create expressive abstract paintings that evoke beloved, remembered landscapes that touch on the emotion of wonder and connection with nature.

My work is an exploration, seeking to elegantly combine simple forms and a subtle color palette. My love of line drawing sometimes translates into airy or broken charcoal lines that evoke movement, wandering and getting lost in the immensity of places.

In an uncertain world, we can find calm in nature, especially contemplating the mountains. The mind can rest in the immensity of the landscape, the imagination can soar, and words become unnecessary, in our joy at simply being here, attentive to the movement of the clouds, the breath of the wind, while the hand marvels at the texture of a rock.

The paintings in this series are imbued with the quiet power and silence of the mountains, opening a path to contemplation and inner calm.

  • It’s never too late : from therapist to art

For my (already) second career I had followed my curiosityfor human life, its ups and downs, and mydesire to helpothers to bring out their potential and become the person they want to be, personally or professionally.

But when I was stricken by cancer a few years ago, I realized how much creating allowed me to be in deep connection with life.I then decided to give my artistic practice a real place, and took several years of classes in life drawing and modeling at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Grenoble. Then in 2020 and 21, I completed Nicholas Wilton's Creative Visionary Program, developed a professional practiceandbecame a member of the Art2Life Academy.

I now combine my art practice with my work as a therapist and a coach, and also offer artist mentoring sessions.
